Alex Stiff is a music producer and musician whose credits range from multi-platinum artists, to countless film and tv credits. He is also a founding member of the band The Frequency, currently signed to Ropeadope Records. A multi-instrumentalist of guitars, basses, drums, and keyboards, his music brings an exceptional quality of musicianship combined with a knack for modernism and interesting song structure. He is currently working on a new Frequency release, and so far in 2007 has landed music in commercials such as Quiznos, Crocs, Burger King, Wrigley's, and General Mills.

He is inspired by a range of artists including:

Brian Eno, Beatles, Stereolab, Jon Brion, Beastie Boys, Dr. Dre, Stevie Wonder, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Jerry Garcia, Michael Jackson, Led Zeppelin, AIR, Nirvana, Jean Jacques Perrey, Leon Russell, Bob Dylan, CAN, Rolling Stones, Beach Boys, Frank Zappa, Radiohead, Velvet Underground, and many others.

Alex has had success in many genres from Pop to Eclectic to Hip Hop. He has worked with and produced a broad range of artists from up and coming 15- year old SonyEpic signed piano/singer Nikki Flores, to writing music for rapper 2Pac Shakur's 2x platinum "Better Dayz". He produced an EP for TelepopMusik singer Deborah Anderson (daughter of Jon Anderson of the legendary supergroup YES), creating an eclectic sound reminiscent of Bjork, Air, and Crosby, Stills, and Nash. His side producing-duo "The Chakadoons" has done remixes on albums featuring great artists like Digweed, Mix Master Mike, Mario Caldato Jr., Cornershop, Thievery Corporation, Ozomatli, and Masters at Work. One of the albums, Concord Records: "Bill Cosby and Quincy Jones: The New Mixes", was ranked #2 album of 2004 by Newsweek, next to Kanye West.

Alex has risen to the call on many TV and film credits from dreamy, symphonic music in Dreamworks' The Ring pt 2 to blazin' Hip Hop in a Miller Genuine Draft ad with the song "Workin". (It's the ad where the DJ tries to get the girl to dance). His songs have been placed in endless tv shows on FOX, CBS, ABC, WB, FX, NBC, UPN, and Lifetime.

Alex has many years experience as a session player and live performer as well. His first band in Los Angeles was the Hip-Hop group 4th Avenue Jones, signed to Interscope Records. He has played shows with Macy Gray, The Black Eyed Peas, Eminem, Nikka Costa, Ozomatli, and Cypress Hill. His current group The Frequency has toured all over the US in 2007.

Alex currently lives in Los Feliz, CA.
